Jo Penston

Jo Penston is a Play Therapist and trainee Adolescent Psychotherapist specialising in child and adolescent mental health. She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Play Therapy, a Postgraduate Certificate in Child Art Psychotherapy, and is currently completing a Masters in Play Therapy and Adolescent Psychotherapy.

Jo works with children, teenagers, and adults, providing a safe, supportive, and client-centred therapeutic environment. Recognising that verbal communication can be challenging, she uses creative and play-based approaches including art, sandtray, puppets, storytelling, and games to support emotional expression, processing, growth, and healing.
She supports clients experiencing attachment difficulties, trauma, anxiety, neurodiversity, bereavement, medical experiences, and significant life changes. Building a strong therapeutic relationship is central to Jo’s work, alongside collaboration with caregivers, recognising their vital role in supporting a child or young person’s emotional wellbeing.
